"Raise Act" Proposes to reduce Family Immigration

     A few months ago, a bill was introduced in Congress that would severely change the family based immigration as we know it.  It proposes to do the following:

• It would reduce immigration
• The bill would eliminate ALL family-based legal immigration categories except for spouses and children (under the age of 18) of U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
• By eliminating the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, the RAISE Act would also reduce immigration from Africa, Asia, and other countries. 
• The number of green cards issued will be reduced.
